Training a cutting horse is one thing. Training a cutting horse that can be shown successfully by a Non Pro is a different thing again. Phil specialises in this.

Dominic and Sue Williams, two of the most competitive Non Pros around, commenced their cutting careers on horses trained by Phil (Good Brew and Ricky Lee) in the late 80s.

Lisa Hindmarsh showed her mare Play To Win (bred and trained by Phil) very successfully as a beginning to her cutting career.

After winning and placing at their first outing, Denise Ellis and Boons Sonita (bred and trained by Phil) have become a tough pairing.

Debbie Hinton and Crystal Bonus are a competitive pairing in Area 6 under Phil's guidance.

Phil found Kelang Accidental Lena Doc for Melinda Flaherty. Phil also tuned this mare for Melinda, who showed successfully in 2006.

Sue Greenham became a competitive Non Pro rider on Twist N Spin (bred and trained by Phil). She now intends to move on to Bohemian Rocsody, the horse Phil finalled for her in the 2007 NCHA Futurity.

Erin McCarthy, owner of Little Joe The Wrangler, won at her first outing with the help of Phil's training and tuition. She has gone on to be Hi Point Rookie, Area 6 for 2007.

Blair Forrest, another of Phil's Non Pro clients, showed her mare Lenas Hobby Oak in 2007. She will show RBH Accidental Sapphire in the 2008 non pro derbies.

Maggie Mason has started placing in rookies cuttings on Cookie Cutter and also has lessons from Phil.

Russell Quirk has returned to cutting and is already competitive aboard Buddyboonsmal (bred and trained by Phil).

Tina Robson, new owner of Twist N Spin, has begun showing in Area 6. The pairing are already a class act, placing in Rookies and $3500 Non Pro events. Twist N Spin was bred and trained by Phil and is a NCHA Non Pro Futurity finalist.

Kristine Wade will be taking her first horse trained by Phil, The Money Game, to the NCHA Non Pro Derby. Watch out for her.
